Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School Classroom of the Month

Getting ready for our classroom mini-economy. We are designing our own money, applying for jobs in the classroom, planning our own businesses to earn money, and getting ready to pay our bills! 

What We are Working On...

Reading

  • Learning about the Civil Rights movement and the National Civil Rights Museum, Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Little Rock Nine, lunch counter sit-ins, the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King

Social Studies - Medieval Era

  • We are building replicas of medieval castles and we created our own medieval shields 

Science - Matter

  • Learning about matter and its properties--do you know what plasma is?

Writing

  • Learning how to create a classroom newspaper, The Pilgrim Press

     

Art

  • Using found objects to create art
  • we can't wait for our next ARTsmart on Feb 19--Leonardo daVinci

Another really fun thing is our read aloud time when Mrs. Tighe reads to us from The Hobbit.  We are wondering what will happen to Bilbo and the dwarves.  Will Smaug the dragon be defeated?

Things we can do better than last year:

  • Reading chapter books

  • Decimals and fractions

  • Spanish

  • Lattice multiplication (we love it!)

  • Playing instruments in the band

  • Using our self-discipline.
