Fundraising

Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School Bike Parade

At Pilgrim, we strive to put some FUN into Fundraising. We have plenty of easy ways for you to help our school in little "everyday" ways. First and foremost is our shopping certificates program, a way that everyone can contribute while doing their daily shopping. Here are some other ways you can help:

Shopping Certificates

Purchasing shopping certificates is the easiest way to be involved in "Funraising" at Pilgrim. Twice a week we offer shopping certificates for sale in the school office and they are also for sale after church services on Sundays. These certificates may be used instead of cash at scores of local and national retailers like Jewel and Dominick's, Shell and Mobil, and many more retailers and restaurant chains. So before you go shopping, check with us. This important fundraising source added $10,000 to Pilgrim's general operating fund in 2006!

Target Red Card

With a Target Visa or MasterCard, you automatically donate 2% to Pilgrim every time you shop at Target. Click on the following link to enroll: http://redcard.target.com/tcoe/search_school.jsp

Teacher's Wish List

Looking for a way to contribute directly to your child's classroom experience? Check out the Teacher's Wish List For an updated list of what your child's teacher would love to have. Click on "Pink Pages" at the top menu, and Teacher's Wish List on the left-hand menu.

Market Day Fundraiser

Once a month, delicious prepared foods from Market Day are delivered to the school. For pennies more than grocery store frozen foods, you can stock your freezer with a host of individually packaged meats, vegetables, desserts and more. And Pilgrim earns 10-15% of the profit on every dollar you spend! You can order online by clicking here: http://www.marketday.com/

To check order and delivery dates, refer to the School Calendar.

Thrivent

Thrivent Financial Fund for Lutherans is a new way to automatically increase your contributions. If you own a specific Thrivent product, Thrivent will add 50% to any contribution you make to Pilgrim School. That means if you donate $50, Thrivent will add $25 to that amount. Thrivent offers insurance, mutual funds and investment advice. For more information, contact Pilgrim's Thrivent agent Ed Nelson at 773-545-5244 or visit their website at http://www.thrivent.com/.

Annual Auction

This is the social event of the year. The Pilgrim community of school parents, church members, and friends come together for an evening of dinner, dancing and shopping! It's a wonderful chance to socialize and have fun while bidding on such must-have items as Cubs and Sox tickets, dining certificates, even weekend getaways. The auction is held in the spring of each year. For date, time, and venue information please contact the school office.

Magazine Subscriptions

Each fall we have a Magazine Drive for both new and renewed subscriptions. Magazines may be ordered all year at www.QSP.com. All orders return 40% in profit to Pilgrim.

Go to www.QSP.com and follow the online directions to order magazines for your family to read at home. Our school account number is:

Greenery Sales

Add a festive touch to your home with fresh greens at Christmas time. Or order your fall bulbs through Pilgrim. Each year, our goal is to raise $100 per teacher to be used for whatever equipment or supplies he or she needs.

Box Tops and Labels for Education

Here's a case of "coupon clipping" that really adds up. Save the "Box Tops for Education" coupons found on select General Mills products, or the Labels for Education on Campbell's soup cans, and put them in the drop box at school. Pilgrim turns them in three times a year and donates the proceeds to the teachers' wish list.

Used Cartridge Program

Your old ink jet and laser jet cartridges are worth money! Bring them into Pilgrim and we'll recycle them. With just a little more participation, we hope to reach our minimum goal of $700 this year, all of which will be used for new technology equipment.

Book Sale

Once a year, Barnes and Noble on Clybourn designates a Pilgrim shopping day. At this fun event, school gets out early, students sing Christmas carols, and Pilgrim families shop for Christmas gifts. Barnes and Noble donates percentage of each sale to our school-which last year, added up to $1400 for the school library.

Church Donations

When you attend Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 50% of your donations go toward the school. And when you join Thrivent, the school gets even more!

Direct Contributions

Of course, if you prefer the direct approach, we do accept donations of any size. But please click on the Thrivent Financial link before making any contributions.

8th Grade Hot Dog Days

Approximately twice a month, the 7th and 8th grade parents get in the kitchen and serve up a hot dog lunch during regular school hours. The proceeds from these lunches go toward the 8th grade class trip.
