About Our School

Our Philosophy - Academic Excellence with a Heart

Mission Statement:
The mission of Pilgrim Lutheran School is to provide a high quality education within a nurturing Christian community so that each student will make positive contributions as a courageous and active member of society.

Pilgrim Lutheran School is a Christ-centered school founded by Pilgrim Lutheran Church, which believes that each child is a unique gift of God. It is the purpose of Pilgrim Lutheran School to provide a strong faith based academic environment for each of its students that offers a safe place for their spirits and their minds to grow. Pilgrim combines a nurturing environment with progressive programs and high academic standards. The school uses a "whole child" approach, focusing on academic, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical development based on the total well being of the child. The curriculum is designed to maintain the highest academic standards. It assures that faith development is an integral part of the process of growth and enables students to successfully achieve a positive place for themselves in society.

Students, parents, and staff learn to care about each other and work together in a variety of ways. Students grow as whole human beings and develop respect and esteem for themselves and others.

The school is fully accredited by the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association and has earned recognition by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Pilgrim Lutheran School serves the entire community. We admit students of any race, color or national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national and ethnic origin in administration of educational policies and athletic and other school administered programs.
